Duan Grading

1. The Purpose of Duan Grading.
Rules are made for the purpose to carry forward the traditional Chinese excellent culture, to meet the demands of the Health Qigong enthusiasts of various countries in the world and to promote the Health Qigong International exchanges. It is a great opportunity for enthusiasts of all level to ascertain the standard they have achieved.
Although not an endorsement to teaching status or standard, it is an important indication to the level of training the practitioner or teacher have attained. Therefore the Duan Grading is a vital element for enthusiasts, who are planning to further their study of Health Qigong or are looking to step up a level to a career in teaching Health Qigong,
2. Requirements of Charitable and Pious Deeds
A strong sense of affection in the Health Qigong with civil and scientific practice and physical training and good moral character. Observe the rules and discipline, be honest, upright and respect teachers. Person(s) applying for a Health Qigong Duan Grading is required to participate in the professional seminar and examination organised by Chinese Health Qigong Association or the organisation authorised thereof (BHQA).
3. Standards of Duan Health Qigong Duan Grading is divided into three categories and nine levels:
Primary Level: Duan 1, 2 and 3
Middle Level: Duan 4, 5 and 6
High Level: Duan 7, 8 and 9
4.Technical Criteria for Duan Grading
Criteria/Score A – Movements are accurate, smooth and well co-ordinated; breathing, mind and expression featuring the characteristics of the movements and the key points of the set.
Criteria/Score B – Movements fairly correct, being able to co-ordinate breathing and mind. Basically master the key points of performing the movements.
Criteria/Score C – Movement basically correct and being able to complete a whole set of movement coherently.
Criteria/Score D – Being able to complete a whole set of movements.
Criteria/Score E – Unable to complete a whole set of movements independently.
5. Specific Requirements of each Duan
1st Duan: Master a set (any set of four) Health Qigong Form, pass the examination (score D or above).
2nd Duan: Master two sets of Health Qigong Forms, pass the examination (score C & D or above); One year after obtaining Duan 1.
3rd Duan: Master three sets of Health Qigong Forms, pass the examination (score B, C & D or above); One year after obtaining Duan 2.
4th Duan: Master four sets of Health Qigong Forms, pass the examination (score A, B, C & D or above); Score higher than 60 points out of 100 points theory test; One year after obtaining Duan 3.
5th Duan: Master four sets of Health Qigong Forms to a high standard (score A, B, C & C or above); Score higher than 60 points out of 100 points theory test; Two years after obtaining Duan 4.
6th Duan: Master four sets of Health Qigong Forms to a high standard (score A, B, B & B or above); Score higher than 60 points out of 100 points theory test; Two years after obtaining Duan 5; Achieved some academic accomplishments (articles, researches etc) in Health Qigong fields; Made positive contributions to the promotion of Health Qigong.
7th Duan: Master four sets of Health Qigong Forms to a high standard (score 4As); Score higher than 60 points out of 100 points theory test; Three years after obtaining Duan 6; Achieved substantial academic accomplishments (articles, researches etc) in Health Qigong fields; Made significant contributions to the promotion of Health Qigong.
8th Duan: Five years after obtaining Duan 7; Achieved remarkable academic accomplishments (articles, researches etc) in Health Qigong fields; Made significant contributions to the promotion of Health Qigong.
9th Duan: Seven years after obtaining Duan 8; Be outstanding at benefaction, skills and theories; Be of high prestige and have a outstanding contribution to the promotion of Health Qigong.
6. Application Methods
Fill in the application Form for Health Qigong (available from BHQA nearer to the Event); A passport photo and application fee (including Registration fee) of £90;
7. Special Notes:
Duan Grading is open to all levels of members of BHQA. The Certificate of Every Duan will be awarded by Chinese Health Qigong Association. Duan Certification is for practitioner’s attainment level only, not an endorsement for Instructor Status for Health Qigong, applicant who wishes to become Health Qigong Instructor should attend BHQA’s Instructor Training Course.
