10TH ANNIVERSARY - BHQA INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE!
The beauty of Health Qigong has been spreading in the UK for a decade! Held each May in Telford at the Chinese Arts and Cultural Centre, this year saw the 10th Annual British Health Qigong Instructors Course, with the promise yet again of high quality Health Qigong training delivered by Master Faye Yip, Master Tary Yip and Professor Zhang Yun Ya from the Shanghai Sports University. The course was fully booked long in advance, welcoming participants from all over the UK, Ireland, Europe and indeed further afield. The form options available to participants included the Wu Qin Xi (5 Animal Frolics), Taiji Yangsheng Zhang (Taiji Stick), Yi Jin Jing (Muscle Tendon Changing Classic) and Ma Wang Dui Daoyin Shu.
As always the course commences with a full group get together, where old friends reunite, and new friendships are made. 2018 was no different, this year with many more new faces in addition to returning instructors. With more course attendees as well, the BHQA is certainly spreading Health Qigong far and wide in the UK and beyond.
Yet again the BHQA was pleased to benefit from Prof Zhang Yun Ya’s expert tuition and insight. The Professor even giving special competition training seminars for the more advanced teachers and those looking forward to competition in the European Health Qigong Games which the BHQA brought to the UK for the first time. Her insights were invaluable, and certainly the participants made plenty of notes.
With a detailed course on each of the 4 forms, covering not only the movement but also the qi theory and historical significance, as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine in a wider Health Qigong context. Participants really had an intensive education in these exceptional forms. The Wu Qin Xi or 5 Animal Frolics has a very long history which was explored by Prof. Zhang together with Master Faye in great depth. Master Faye took charge of teaching the intricate Taiji Yangsheng Zhang or Taiji Stick form which is the only IHQF form which utilises a external instrument. The classic Yi Jin Jing or muscle and tendon changing classic was led by Master Tary, and students got to explore the unique stretching methodology of this form. Lastly the Ma Wang Dui course participants enjoyed Prof. Zhang Yun Ya together with Master Tary's expertise for this Daoyin form portrayed & named from the excavated famous silk paintings.
BHQA took the opportunity of 10 years of courses to take stock of the last decade. As well as looking back at the archives, the Instructors course was a great opportunity to get some feedback from this year's participants, including senior instructors to those first timers hoping to qualify with the BHQA.
The course has a great pedigree, inviting internationally renowned Qigong Masters as well as year on year attracting increasing numbers of attendees. Progressively, as word on the course has spread, some individuals have travelled from outside of Britain to attend. The course has been successful in attracting participants to the BHQA HQ in the UK from North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia (where the BHQA has had individuals travel the considerable distance to attend the course impressively in both 2009 and in 2018). The numbers of participants has grown exponentially with quite a dramatic, increase in attendees over the years.
Questions were posed to ascertain attendees perspective on Health Qigong, the BHQA and their own reasons and motivations for taking the leap into teaching. Many felt drawn to Health Qigong due to personal health concerns, whereas for others felt it was a natural progression from their tai chi studies. We are also very pleased to hear about the great reputation of the BHQA and will continually strive to maintain our excellent reputation, and endeavour to spread health qigong and constantly improve. The answers provided gave invaluable feedback to help the BHQA in moving forwards.

So after 8 days filled with Happy qi, learning and friendship in 2018, we are already looking forward to 2019. With course options already announced. For full details and booking see: instructor course 2019
