This one-day seminar was the part of the 3rd European Health Qigong Games being held at the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK from 24th - 30th August 2018. Top quality translation was provided by renowned United Nations translator Mr Chen Feng throughout the seminar to ensure everyone clearly understood the expert knowledge that the Master was keen to share with the very attentive audience.
Master Lai Jian Hui from Shanghai Sports University is a very familiar and popular teacher to many of the British Health Qigong Association (BHQA) members as she has taught on several Health Qigong Instructors’ seminars over the last few years at the BHQA training centre in Telford. Her enthusiasm is a wonderful inspiration to all. She very carefully guided the group through all 12 movements of this extremely popular qigong routine. These health preservation exercises were developed in order to enhance physical and mental health and proactively prevent illness prior to treatment. These exercises form a complete set of meridian exercises combining mental concentration, breath control and body movement for life vitality. They stress the importance of the cultivation of the essence, qi and spirit and emphasise the nourishment of the spirit through regulating the mind.
She showed students how to perform the movements with precision and grace whilst being very explicit on the key points on each movement. Her teaching style and charisma really endears every student to appreciate her vast knowledge, flexibility and technical skills.
She has a wonderful style of teaching that clearly articulates all the key points of each posture to her students.
Steve Goodeve of Tao Heart Tai Chi (Cornwall) seen here receiving refinement on the Lotus Flower Appears Above the Water, said “This was my third occasion of training with Master Lai, and as previously it was a thoroughly enjoyable, appropriately challenging and detailed learning experience. Master Lai brought fresh perspectives on this Daoyin Health Qigong set and through her skilled accessible teaching and demonstrations, gave all participants an opportunity to update skills in line with current practice. It’s always a pleasure to meet Master Lai, always something new to learn, and always looking forward to the next training opportunity”.
Anne Norman, BHQA Cheam Team Member, said “It was so inspiring to not only listen to the instructions, but also to watch and try to understand the precision of each movement being demonstrated. We got a lot of practice and managed to get through the whole of both forms. The energy was outstanding with a lot of humour.”
Faye Yip, BHQA President said, “Master Lai is no stranger to UK fans, having taught the BHQA instructor course for two consecutive years. This is her third time teaching in the UK, and her warm, friendly and precise teaching style proved to be very popular with our European enthusiasts”.
