Friday is my morning Health Qigong Class. I wonder as I drive to the hall on the heath in Wareham on the Isle of Purbeck, who might attend, whilst preparing in my mind the sequence I want to follow, as set out in my current week’s training program. I recognise that I have been teaching Qigong in this hall for ten years now and feel very privileged to have received my continuous Health Qigong Instructor accreditation’s with the BHQA as my base of learning across this time frame.
When I arrive at the hall on the heath, my thoughts are broken by the view that greets me, lit by a weaker winter sunlight falling across the landscape. The sky is blue, air sweet, yet cold, it sets the scene for my class.
Feeling invigorated, I open the class with my regular Qigong Warm Up, currently using the Daoyin Shu Xin Ping Xue Gong (Heart & Lung Set), originally learnt in Spain whilst attending Masters Faye & Tary Yip’s wonderful Deyin Summer Camp held in Guadarrama some years ago.
I returned my attention to the Yi Jin Jing; my current form of set practice. For the first time this week, I introduce audio cd instruction for students to follow along with me. They are excited and find it is a bit quicker than my usual class pace. We practise to this and include up to “Showing Talons & Spreading Wings” which is where we close our practise session. Following this we hold a Seated Meditation which includes facial and acupressure massage. My class of six ladies feel refreshed and leave ready for the weekend.
For me, it is now my practise time. I have said I will present and demonstrate Health Qigong - Mawangdui at the last class before Xmas break. I complete the full set facing my view and feel enriched by this amazing sequence and the environment that surrounds me. I look forward to showing my students “The Art of Qigong” with this set. It is a continuous learning experience and so enriches our lives, with its stunning choreographed postures.
For me, as a Health Qigong Instructor, the thrill of completing sets with my students is a testimony of my training and for that I have to thank Masters Faye & Tary Yip, BHQA President & Vice-President, who uphold such standards and achieve the highest accolades as seen at the European Health Qigong Games held in Hatfield in August this year.
2019 beckons and my Qigong journey continues…………….…….always looking forward to BHQA Instructor Training week in May with my Qi family.
